I started learning the Alexander Technique with Estella Cauldwell in Birmingham in 1997.  From the very first lesson I found the theory fascinating , and the practical application enormously beneficial, so when a teacher training course started in 1999 I couldn’t let the opportunity pass.  I qualified in 2004 as a teacher with the interactive Teaching Method (ITM).  Since then I have continued regular training, to develop and improve my teaching skills.

Personal Biography

I live in Ashby de la Zouch with my husband, my piano and my garden, which neatly sums up my situation and interests.  I’ve been in here for ten years, which is the longest I’ve ever lived in one place, and I rather enjoy being settled.

It’s also allowed me to discover just how therapeutic gardening can be (apart from the slugs).  I’m pretty good with flowers, and pretty bad with vegetables.  In recent years my piano playing has gone from Beethoven sonatas to songs of all genres, and is now veering tentatively towards jazz.

I started out in Liverpool as a computer analyst, until illness brought that career to a halt.  Before that I did a degree at Leicester University. Delving even further back, I was born and brought up in South Wales, and still have the remains of an accent.

Thanks to the Alexander Technique I have learnt to appreciate the variety of life, and to be always on the lookout for new opportunities to grow and change.  My latest challenge involves a pair of knitting needles and lots of swearing.
